Comment on "Anomalous Discontinuity at the Percolation Critical Point of Active Gels".
We develop a percolation model motivated by recent experimental studies of gels with active network remodeling by molecular motors. This remodeling was found to lead to a critical state reminiscent of random percolation (RP), but with a cluster distribution inconsistent with RP. Our model not only can account for these experiments, but also exhibits an unusual type of mixed phase transition: We...

The concentration and temperature dependence of the gelation kinetics of high-methoxyl pectin (HMP; 60% sucrose, pH 3) was investigated using measurements of small-amplitude oscillatory shear. The rate of gelation close to the gel point can be described as a second-order rate process using the kinetic model of Ross-Murphy (Carbohydr. Polym. 1991, 14, 281) and a critical exponent close to that p...
متن کاملDynamics of gelling liquids: a short survey
The dynamics of randomly crosslinked liquids is addressed via a Rouseand a Zimm-type model with crosslink statistics taken either from bond percolation or Erdős–Rényi random graphs. While the Rouse-type model isolates the effects of the random connectivity on the dynamics of molecular clusters, the Zimm-type model also accounts for hydrodynamic interactions on a preaveraged level. The incoheren...
متن کاملUnusual percolation in simple small-world networks.
We present an exact solution of percolation in a generalized class of Watts-Strogatz graphs defined on a one-dimensional underlying lattice. We find a nonclassical critical point in the limit of the number of long-range bonds in the system going to zero, with a discontinuity in the percolation probability and a divergence in the mean finite-cluster size. We show that the critical behavior falls...
متن کاملElastic critical behaviour in a 3d model for polymer gels
The elastic response in polymeric gels is studied by means of a percolation dynamic model. By numerical simulations the fluctuations in the gyration radius and in the center of mass motion of the percolating cluster are determined. Their scaling behaviour at the gelation threshold gives a critical exponent for the elastic modulus f ∼ 2.5± 0.1 in agreement with the prediction f = dν. PACS: 05.20...
